Today, we learned.../Hoy aprendimos...
In PE, we continued practicing for the Terry Fox run on Friday by running laps around the school. In Wellness, we talked about the qualities of a good friend and started our friendship pamphlets. In Math, we continued practicing expanded form (ex. 432 = 400+30+2) by doing some examples as a class and then playing a game. In Español, we finished writing about our summer vacations. In Social, we talked about quality of life and the things we are lucky to have that bring us safety, comfort, health and happiness. In Art, we finished up our self-portraits and continued working on our fall leaves. In ELAL, we did our silent reading/read to someone time and finished with writing about Terry Fox.
Next week.../La próxima semana...
We will continue focusing on place value in Math, quality of life in Social, and igneous rocks in Science. In Spanish we will be starting a unit on food!
School News/Noticias de la escuela
Due to Parent Teacher Interviews, there is no school for all students on Friday, September 23.
TERRY FOX RUN:
The Dalhousie Terry Fox run will take place on Monday, September 26 at 1:45pm. All fundraiser sheets were sent home last week. As a school, we are hoping to raise $4000.00 for the Terry Fox Foundation, which works out to $8.00 a student. Families are encouraged to donate online and we will let you know how much we raised at the end of the run. There is a container in the office if students bring money for Terry Fox. Donations can be made online to the Terry Fox foundation under Dalhousie School.
SCHOOL PHOTOS:
School photos will take place on September 27 for the Tuesday/Thursday Kindergarten group, Grades 1, 3 and 5. On September 28, the Monday/Wednesday Kindergarten group as well as Grades 2 and 4 will have their pictures taken. Please note that it will be the individual as well as the class photos. A retake date will be confirmed.
SWIMMING:
Grade 1, 2, and 3 students have the opportunity to go swimming at Churchill Pool on October 17, 18, 19, 20, 24, 25. Students will have the opportunity to participate in the “Swim to Survive” program. These forms have been sent home with your child. Please fill out the “Acknowledgment of Risk” form, and the “Swimming Ability” form and please return these forms to your child’s classroom teacher by no later than September 29, 2022. Both of these forms are required in order for your child to participate in swimming program.
The cost for this swimming field trip as a cost of $36.08 please pay this fee through your on-line My CBE Account. Please note: this fee has been significantly reduced with the support of Parent Society through the multiple fundraising efforts such as fun lunches, apples, chocolates, plants, etc. Please continue to support all fundraising efforts that come up throughout the year as the money raised goes back to supporting additional activities for all students at Dalhousie.
We will require 6 additional volunteers and 1 male volunteer for each time slot for this field trip to be a success. Please see the Sign Up Genius to sign up for a volunteer slot. Only approved CBE volunteers will be permitted to attend this trip.
