Today, we learned.../Hoy aprendimos...

In PE, we continued with skipping and learned some new skills. In Wellness, we reflected on how we show collaboration and teamwork skills at school, home and any of our after school activities (ex. sports, drama, etc.). In Math, we continued practicing rounding to the nearest 10 with 2- and 3-digit numbers. In Social, we continued learning about quality of life in Peru, India, Ukraine and Tunisia. In Art, we focused on catching up on incomplete projects. In ELAL, we worked on our triple scoop words.

Next week.../La próxima semana...

We have swimming and will continue with our work in English, Spanish and Math.

Dalhousie School News/Noticias de la escuela Dalhousie

School photos retakes were originally scheduled to happen on October 17 & 18 have been rescheduled to November 2 & 3.  If you would like your child to have photo retakes, please email your child's teacher to let them know. Class Photos will also happen on the same days.

RAZ-KIDS:

Raz Kids is now available for students. Please check to ensure that you can log in. We will use this in class for literacy in Spanish and English. Students are encouraged to read daily at home and Raz Kids provides excellent Spanish reading resources to add to your child’s daily reading routine.

SWIMMING:

Our class is going swimming on: October 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 24th and 25th from 11:20-12:00.

Please ensure that your child wears their bathing suit under their clothing and brings:
- a towel
- undergarments
- a plastic bag
- extra snacks

For long hair, it is strongly encouraged that you wear your hair in a ponytail or in braids as there is limited time after lessons to change and get ready for the bus.

VETERAN'S FOOD DRIVE:

Starting on Monday, October 17, 2022 we will be collecting food/non-perishable items for the Veteran’s Food Drive. There will be boxes set up at the front and back door for food drop off. At Dalhousie school we want to support Calgarians who are less fortunate than us, and one way we are doing this is through the Veteran’s Food Drive. This drive will run until after Remembrance Day. Items that the food bank is urgent need of are the following:

·       Kleenex – tissue boxes

·       Napkins

·       Paper towel

·       1 litre juice cartons

·       Juice boxes for lunches

·       Cereal

·       Coffee and coffee pods

·       Pancake mix

·       Laundry soap

·       Granola bars

·       Ziploc bags (medium and large)

·       Fabric softener

·       Rice packages

·       Cookies

·       Canned chili / stew

·       Mayonnaise

·       $25.00 grocery gift cards

HALLOWEEN:

With Halloween coming up, students are invited to wear costumes to school on Monday, October 31.  The costumes must be worn the whole day and must be appropriate for school environment meaning no violent or inappropriate content or messaging. Accessories such as swords, guns, knives, weapons etc. should not be brought to school.  As costumes should not impede learning, we ask that no mask even if it’s a half face mask be worn to school.  Those wanting to wear COVID masks are welcome to. Due to dietary restrictions and preferences, no food should be brought to school for sharing purposes.  While well intended, other non-food treats should also be not brought to school (goodie/loot bags).
