Today, we learned.../Hoy aprendimos...

In Math, we focused on addition with 3- and 4-digits without regrouping. In ELAL, we worked on spelling and focused on the spelling rule: adding a double p when using -ed (ex. tip, tipped). Then we had our first Buddies time with Sra. Fuentes' Grade 1 class. We read with our Grade 1 buddy and helped them practice their Grade 1 sight words! After Nutrition Break, we played Adivina que (Guess Who) to practice the vocabulary we've learned about animales en Peru (Animals in Peru). We finished our day with Arte and continue to work on our Llamas.

We will continue to focus on addition (with and without regrouping) and incorporate some algebra into it (ex. 234 + ____ = 279).

PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES:

Conference bookings are now open. Please sign up for a 15 minute conference with Srta. Tugle to discuss your child's progress. Conference bookings are done through your My CBE account. Conference dates are: Thursday, November 24th (In Person) from 5-8pm and Friday, November 25th (Online) from 9am-2pm. 

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR:

Dalhousie will be hosting a Scholastic book fair in November, with a virtual and in-person option.  The virtual fair will be active from November 18  – November 28, 2022 inclusive. Please check out the virtual link to preview and explore the digital flyer!  Students will also be able to purchase books and other items (posters/stationary etc.) in school. We will be doing a preview for each class and then the following week students will be allowed to purchase items using cash. Previews will be held November 15, 16, 17, and purchasing will occur November 22, 23, 24.   Additionally, the book fair will be open for all families on November 24 from 5pm to 8pm to coincide with conferences.  You do not need to have a conference that evening to visit the book fair.

SOUND KREATIONS DANCE RESIDENCY:

Ask your child about Sound Kreations and the new dance moves that they are learning!

 

AHS DECLARED OUTBREAK:

FEES:

Thank you to those families who have paid their fees for swimming, Sound Kreations or field trips.  Fees can be paid through your MyCBE account.  Prompt payment is appreciated as any unpaid fees impacts the programming that the school can offer.

Our virtual book fair starts today and can be accessed through this link.  Students will have an in-person opportunity to purchase books as well either during the day on November 22, 23, 24 or in the evening from 5-8 on November 24.

 

TRAFFIC SAFETY:

As a reminder around traffic safety, there is no parking or entering the school parking lot at any time. Please also be respectful and mindful of the parking, no stopping and Hug & Go zones around the school. The Hug & Go Zone is meant for a vehicle to be there for under a minute.  Your child should be able to exit the vehicle independently and have their backpack with them in order to use this area. The Hug & Go Zone is not meant as a waiting zone for families to pick up their child after school by remaining in their vehicle. We continue to receive complaints from our neighbours regarding families who park in front of their garage and block access as well as reports of near misses. Safety over convenience it is not just a phrase. It needs to be a mindset and continued action. The Calgary Parking Authority as well as the Calgary Police Service will be coming out for education and enforcement. Dalhousie School has no ability or authority to have any infractions and accompanying fines waived.  Thank you for collectively being conscious about traffic safety for our students, your children and our families, you.
