Today, we learned.../Hoy aprendimos...

In Math, we continued working on angles and recognizing them in different 2D shapes. We also continued working on addition with 3-digit numbers with regrouping. In Español, we continued with animals in India, verbs that end in -AR and reinforcing vocabulary of animal body parts and describing them and where they live. In Science we completed our mineral labs and next week we will start Animal Life Cycles. In ELAL, we continued to work on visualization and focusing our event stories. In PE, we played Doctor Dodgeball.

Next week.../La próxima semana....

We will be starting Basketball in PE and Animal Life Cycles in Science. We will also continue with Traditions and Celebrations for India, Ukraine, Tunisia and Peru.

There is no school on Friday, November 25th.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR:

Dalhousie will be hosting a Scholastic book fair in November, with a virtual and in-person option.  The virtual fair will be active from November 18  – November 28, 2022 inclusive. Please check out the virtual link to preview and explore the digital flyer!  Students will also be able to purchase books and other items (posters/stationary etc.) in school. We will be doing a preview for each class and then the following week students will be allowed to purchase items using cash. Previews will be held November 15, 16, 17, and purchasing will occur November 22, 23, 24.   Additionally, the book fair will be open for all families on November 24 from 5pm to 8pm to coincide with conferences.  You do not need to have a conference that evening to visit the book fair.

 

AHS DECLARED OUTBREAK:

FEES:

Thank you to those families who have paid their fees for swimming, Sound Kreations or field trips.  Fees can be paid through your MyCBE account.  Prompt payment is appreciated as any unpaid fees impacts the programming that the school can offer.

Our virtual book fair starts today and can be accessed through this link.  Students will have an in-person opportunity to purchase books as well either during the day on November 22, 23, 24 or in the evening from 5-8 on November 24.

 

TRAFFIC SAFETY:

As a reminder around traffic safety, there is no parking or entering the school parking lot at any time. Please also be respectful and mindful of the parking, no stopping and Hug & Go zones around the school. The Hug & Go Zone is meant for a vehicle to be there for under a minute.  Your child should be able to exit the vehicle independently and have their backpack with them in order to use this area. The Hug & Go Zone is not meant as a waiting zone for families to pick up their child after school by remaining in their vehicle. We continue to receive complaints from our neighbours regarding families who park in front of their garage and block access as well as reports of near misses. Safety over convenience it is not just a phrase. It needs to be a mindset and continued action. The Calgary Parking Authority as well as the Calgary Police Service will be coming out for education and enforcement. Dalhousie School has no ability or authority to have any infractions and accompanying fines waived.  Thank you for collectively being conscious about traffic safety for our students, your children and our families, you.
