Class Work/Trabajo en clase
In PE, students will be starting Rocks and Rings (Curling). In Math, students continue working on multiplication. We have learned 4 strategies to help us understand what multiplication is (repeated addition/suma repetida, equal groups/grupos iguales, arrays/la matriz, and the number line/la recta numérica) and now we are working on recalling our facts as much as possible up to 10x10! In Spanish, we continue focusing on "la ciudad" (the city) and giving directions to places within the city. Soon, we will create maps of imaginary cities and work with Ozobots to guide them within our maps using our oral Spanish skills and coding. In Social, we are almost done discussing services in each of the countries we have been focusing on this year. In Science, we are working on different experiments to explore sound for our Hearing and Sound unit. In ELAL, we are working on breaking down words into prefixes (ex. -un, -re) and suffixes (-ing, -ed) to determine meaning and help with our spelling. We are also working on summarizing what we read, and learning about the mystery genre.
As a class, we are also focused on the theme of kindness, not only through our Wellness class, but throughout the whole day. We also continue to work on expected behaviour through our ongoing "secret student" activity.
NOTE: Due to the Scholastic Book Fair preview this week and actual event next week, there will be no library.
Notes From the Music Room - Srta. Primak
I cannot believe that in approximately 3 weeks we will have our concerts! I hope that you have all checked your emails to see when your child is performing. Many students are asking me about costumes etc. Dalhousie elementary is very fortunate to have beautiful traditional Latin American custom-made costumes. Some of our classes will be wearing these and others will find their costumes from home.
Spring Concert Costume Information for Grade 3:
We will provide the children with the costumes. Please come to school wearing:
Girls - white or as close to solid white t-shirts or tank top and tights (any colour).
Boys - dark dress pants and a white or as close to solid white t-shirt.
Regular school shoes
Reminder: Srta. Tugle's class will perform on Thursday, March 23rd at 6:30pm. If your child will not be able to participate on their designated evening due to prior commitments, please email your child’s teacher as well as Srta Primak (oprimak@cbe.ab.ca) to let them know.

We are continuing our Food Drive for Kindness Month. All donations are gratefully accepted and can be dropped off at the donation boxes at either the front or the back door.
Volunteer opportunities are available for each class. You must have a valid CBE volunteer clearance at the time you sign up and we ask that you sign up for two opportunities per class to allow for as many people as possible to participate. If you would like to volunteer more, please check with the teacher. More details can be found in the separate email that was sent out.
Our Spring Concert will be held on March 22 & 23 at 6:30pm. You can see which classes perform when in the separate email sent out. Srta. Primak is also looking for helping with prop creation. You can sign up here if you can help out.
